On display are guitars, concert posters, photographs, handbills, drawings and a couch from Jimi's childhood home. Among the articles of Hendrix's clothing on display is the outfit he wore (above) at the Love and Peace Festival in Germany for what turned out to be his final concert performance on September 6, 1970. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is taking its message online in a new video web series, All Access: The Story of Rock. The first episode marks the 40th anniversary of Hendrix's death. "The web presents some interesting opportunities for us," says Todd Mesek, the Rock Hall's vice president of marketing and communications. "We are sitting on a treasure trove of artifacts and content that people are passionate about. The 'All Access' series really is a way for us to extend our educational mission, to use our content and the music experts we have here at the museum to tell great rock 'n' roll stories. Right now, the idea is to key the series to an artifact in the museum's collection," said Mesek. "But that will evolve. We may look at a genre of music, or a movement. We may use a variety of objects from the collection. People are very passionate about this music. There are great stories to be told." While they promote the Hendrix story as Rock Hall curatorial director Howard Kramer tells the story of Hendrix's final days, including his last concert in Germany; in reality it's a simple short promotional video for the venue, using the centerpiece of the patchwork jacket and pink pants that Hendrix wore at that show are in the museum's collection. HENDRIX IN FENDER HALL OF FAME
The Fender Hall of Fame class of 2010 includes Jimi Hendrix. The Fender Musical Instrument company formally inaugurated the inductees with an event on Friday, August 13 during the fourth annual event at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Tempe, Arizona. The Fender Hall of Fame was created in 2007 as an annual celebration of Fender founders, artists, leaders, innovators and other historically significant figures, and as an institution in which their contributions to the company's legacy are permanently commemorated. The Fender Hall of Fame is dedicated to those upon whose shoulders successive generations of Fender musical instruments stand. Special guests at the 2010 induction ceremony included Janie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer, Geoff Fullerton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Chris Layton. Guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd performed in honor of Hendrix using a Fender Custom Shop recreation of the Hendrix Monterey Stratocaster. Also inducted was George Fullerton, longtime Fender employee who played a pivotal role in the evolution of Fender during the 1940s-1960s golden age. http://www.fender.com/features/hof/

The Redding Experience DVD is set for release on December 6th 2010. The DVD features a never before seen interview with Noel Redding the bass player in the Jimi Hendrix Experience, which was recorded at Redding's home in Ireland in 1988. Producer Will Scally explains how the interview came about. "I had known and been friends with Noel for many years and always found him a very upfront, straightforward guy. We often spoke about doing an interview, he wanted to speak about the band, money, drugs and the death of Hendrix and much more ' even speaking about the possibility of Hendrix being murdered. He was on good form that day and wanted to record this for posterity." Scally founded of the online music channel MusicnVision.tv in 2007. According to initial press on the channel: An IPTV 24-hour music TV programming with the focus on new bands and songwriters. As such, new acts will be encouraged to get in touch with the channel via its website for a chance to appear. 'This is not like other channels out there at the moment,' says Music N Vision founder Will Scally. 'Our angle is liaising with record companies to get them more involved so the quality is better.' The venture will be funded by advertising and Scally says he has already been approached by several parties. 'We're looking at getting 10 million regular views in the first six months,' Scally says, explaining that the site has already had thousands of hits even before its formal launch,(www.musicnvision.net before morphing to www.musicnvision.tv) largely as a result of the interviews it features with artists such as Edwin Starr, Noel Redding and Ozzy Osbourne. As of 2010, the internet channel has no domain and is not active.
LONNIE YOUNGBLOOD SUFFERING THE GEORGIA BLUES'Saxophonist Lonnie Youngblood, who played and recorded with Hendrix briefly during the pre-Experience era of Jimi's career in 1966, filed suit on April 29 against Experience Hendrix LLC, MCA Records and film director Martin Scorsese, for the inclusion of the track 'Georgia Blues' album "Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: Jimi Hendrix', which Youngblood claims he co-wrote with Hendrix and they recorded the take in 1969. Nearly six months later, on October 12, the Hendrix estate struck back with counterclaims, asking a judge to declare it the owner of the song and Youngblood's belated copyright registration as invalid.
According to papers filed in New Jersey District Court, Hendrix produced and recorded the song at his own cost. The estate says the two-day session at the Record Plant Studio in NYC produced several Hendrix tracks, including "George Blues," which have remained in the physical possession of the estate since that time. The estate now wants Youngblood to account for all of his royalties on "Georgia Blues."
Saxophonist Youngblood secured his first professional gig in 1959 after relocating from his native Georgia to Newark, New Jersey. He served in the Army for a short time, and returned to Harlem in 1963, where he took over leadership of Curtis Knight's band. In 1965, a then unknown Jimi Hendrix joined the entourage Curtis Knight and the Squires. But, according to an interview with Youngblood in the book Becoming Jimi Hendrix, by the summer of 1966, 'Curtis started to lose interest in the band,' explained Youngblood, 'and at the same time, I had a couple of job offers to be a bandleader. I knew I didn't want to play in his band forever, so I told Jimi and a couple of the guys in the band about it and they said, 'Let's go!' From there, we started playing a few gigs as The Blood Brothers. I was an enterprising guy and wanted to cut me some records.' In June of 1966, Youngblood and Hendrix entered Abtone Studios in New York. Three of those sessions yielded the singles 'Goodbye Bessie Mae' b/w 'Soul Food (That's What I Like)', 'Under the Table' b/w 'Wipe the Sweat' and 'Go Go Shoes' b/w 'Go Go Place'. Later that year, Hendrix and Youngblood returned to the Abtone studios as session players for producer Johnny Brantley. It's said that as many as 13 tracks, including alternate takes, were recorded. Those sessions yielded the singles 'My Girl (She's a Fox)' b/w '(I Wonder) What It Takes' released by The Icemen; 'Sweet Thang' (originally titled 'Wipe the Sweat') by Billy Lamont, and 'Your Only Hurting Yourself' b/w 'That Little Old Groovemaker' by Jimmy Norman. Over the years, numerous Hendrix/Youngblood albums have been released, some including tracks Hendrix never played on while other overdub guitar tracks to try to accentuate the Hendrix sound. The friendship between the two endured, though, and in 1969, at the peak of Hendrix's popularity, the two men recorded several songs in a New York studio. The tunes recorded during those two or three days are the subject of the lawsuit Youngblood filed this spring that claims one of the songs, "Georgia Blues," was included on the 2003 compilation without his permission and without crediting him as its author. The suit seeks unspecified lost-income damages from Hendrix's estate, MCA Records and film director Martin Scorsese, who collaborated on the collection Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: Jimi Hendrix. Youngblood alleges he was not asked for permission to include the track on the album and was not credited as a creator of the track. In the filing, Youngblood claims he refused an offer of $3,000 by a lawyer for the Hendrix estate, and he's determined to win the case.
His comments echo those of the late Al Hendrix when he was informed that his attorney Leo Branton had sold the rights to his son's music. The 68-year-old Youngblood says, 'It's the principle. I want my song back. They had no right to take my song.'
In an Associated Press interview, Youngblood recalls the wayfaring Hendrix, 'He had a guitar in a sack, a change of pants and a shirt in another sack, maybe a toothbrush and some type of comb. And basically that was it," Youngblood said. "He basically didn't have a worry." When Hendrix asked him to come down and play in Greenwich Village, Youngblood rejected the opportunities, having other responsibilities. "He wanted me to go down to Cafe Wha and play for tips," he said, "to me, that was out of the question. I had a car, a wife, a son, an apartment. I told him, 'You've got to go where you can get some sure money.'" It was at that time Hendrix created Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Hendrix went on to England where he skyrocketed to rock stardom. Youngblood remained performing in the Harlem circuit and becoming a fixture on college campuses throughout the Northeast.
Then, one night in 1969 Youngblood was onstage when Hendrix showed up unexpectedly, wearing his signature floppy hat, tassels and ruffled shirt, and "turned the place inside out." Hendrix told Youngblood he would record some songs with him, Youngblood remembers, as payback for his help several years earlier.
"Jimmy had moved on to another place by then, but it was his way of saying thank you," Youngblood said. Youngblood said he wrote "Georgia Blues" and points out that one line in the song goes, "I was born in Georgia 27 years ago" (born Lonnie Thomas 8/3/41) ' a clear reference to Youngblood, who was 27 at the time and a native of Augusta, Georgia.
Youngblood worked mostly as a backing musician during the rest of the '60s, playing on tours and/or sessions for the likes of James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Ben E. King, Sam & Dave, and other soul greats. He also continued to record independently, scoring a couple of mild R&B chart hits in the mid-70s. Like many other musicians, he battled drug problems off and on throughout his career. In 2004, when he became clean and sober, he recorded a gospel album titled The Garden and another uplifting spiritual project Count Your Blessings for the Deblon label. Youngblood, who still lives in the Newark area, still performs as many as 20 dates a month at clubs and private parties in the northern New Jersey and New York City area.

Yohji Yamamoto became the missing link Friday, unveiling a summer look imagined as a psychedelic tribute to the rock icon, 40 years after his death. "Ave Maria" rang out across the Place Vendome -- a high temple of luxury two steps from the Paris Louvre -- as the Japanese designer sent out models draped in feather-light, flowing black silk, worn over heavy lace-up black boots. Faces were powered white and hair was plastered down around the crown and pinned under funereal dark shades, its ends allowed to float free at the shoulders -- unless they were poked up through a topless straw hat. "It's my generation," Yamamoto said of his tribute to Hendrix. "I wanted to be a spiritual designer, to open doors," he told AFP backstage after the show. A wispy angle-cut dress with a bare-shouldered bustier, was worn over leggings and boots, while pendants of silver hanging from the end of black silk shawls helped create a solemn, ceremonial atmosphere. Then, with renditions of Hendrix classics "Voodoo Child" and "Foxy Lady" came the wilder side of the look: full-body leotards and ankle-length silk dresses in psychedelic, fluorescent colours, but still worn under black silk. Flashes of white came in a scarf, or a pair of flip-flops. A bustier was a simple ribbon of black silk, twisted between the breasts, worn under a caftan-like tunic, slashed in a V-shape down to the navel. Or a long-sleeved ivy green dress was adorned at the waist with heavy draped loops in purple and wine-red, fixed in thick swathes to its asymetric skirt. And the finale: a wide, pleated A-line skirt fashioned from mustard yellow blow-up plastic tubes, and worn with a t-shirt reading: "This is me." Hendrix was 27 and already a global star when he died in a hotel in London on September 18, 1970, after swallowing a cocktail of sleeping pills and drinking red wine.

Vor vierzig Jahren hatte Jimi Hendrix auf Fehmarn seinen letzten Auftritt. Er stürzte die Insel drei Tage lang in Anarchie. Heute erinnert ein ganz und gar gesittetes Festival daran.

In neun kurzen Kapitel mischen sich hier Biografisches von Jimi mit
meiner eigenen Geschichte von ca. 1967 bis 1970.
Ein Auszug daraus wurde vor einigen Jahren im Tagesspiegel
veröffentlicht, eine andere Version auf Radio Eins gesendet.
Und ich selber habe den Text öffentlich gelesen, einmal auf einer
Jimi-Hendrix-Veranstaltung im Kulturzentrum Berlin-Hellersdorf, ein
anderes Mal im Berliner Musicclub Rickenbacker's. Zur Auflockerung
und Illustration hab ich zwischen den einzelnen Kapitel die entsprechenden
Songs von Jimi eingespielt.
Das gesamte Programm dauert etwa eine Stunde und fand immer großen
Anklang bei den Zuhörern.
Ich werde das Episodical "...and The Wind Cries Jimi" nach längerer Zeit
wiederaufführen, und zwar in Berlin!
Selbstverständlich biete ich immer die Möglichkeit, auch woanders
in einem anderen Rahmen das Programm aufzuführen....

Gered is fantastically eloquent on Hendrix, the Swinging 60s and beyond, yet has been a rarely 'tapped-into' source. Unlike many,
he has razor sharp memories of that time too. He is available for interview.

As well as shooting many major stars and moments of the 60s, Gered Mankowitz provides a link to the very early days of British rock'n'roll. His father, Wolf, wrote the film "Expresso Bongo", the first British r'n'r movie. This starred Cliff Richard as the aspiring singer and Laurence Harvey as his conspiring manager. Harvey's character became the childhood hero of future Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, providing him with a role model as he hustled his way into the music business.
Wolf Mankowitz also ran a shop selling Wedgwood china called "Gered of Piccadilly" at 8 Piccadilly Arcade.
By strange coincidence , this is exactly the same address where 50 years later, music photography
specialists Snap have opened their London gallery. So this show is a real homecoming for Gered -
as a boy he spent a lot of time in the basement of number 8 learning how to pack antique Wedgwood china.
Just round the corner from the gallery premises in Piccadilly Arcade is Mason's Yard, where Gered took the Hendrix shots and many of the Stones. The Yard is a real piece of hidden London tucked away behind Fortnum & Mason on Jermyn Street between Duke Street St. James and Duke of York Street. Its colourful history goes back to the Great Fire of London of 1666 - it was one of the first areas of London to be rebuilt after the destruction. In fact Gered's old studio at No. 9 which was built around 1667 is probably
the oldest surviving building in the Yard. In the first decade of the 18th century, Hugh Mason of Fortnum & Mason (established 1707) took over the stables and carriage houses that filled most of the yard. Eventually, the name was changed to Mason"s Yard."" A couple of centuries later it became the epicentre of Swinging London. The infamous 60s rock star hang out the Scotch of St James was two doors away from Gered's studio. The Indica Gallery, the avant-garde art gallery and bookshop run by
Barry Miles and John Dunbar was a few doors along on the other side and was where Yoko Ono had her first UK show and met John Lennon. "

""Jimi Hendrix played The Scotch the first night he was in London when he sat in with the house band! Most evenings the Yard would be crammed with rock stars cars " Astons, Jags and at least one Facel Vega belonging to Ringo Starr for whom it was a major hang out. It was a happening place but not the only groovy discotheque in the area because a few doors along Jermyn Street was the Crazy Elephant " a wild basement club that was very popular with
a lot of models and actresses. Mason"s Yard had a sort of seedy glamour at night, it was still illuminated by gas lamps and opposite the Scotch was a public lavatory that after dark was a notorious pick up point for homosexuals and was also a handy location for late night drug dealing where the habitués of the Scotch would score dope. There was usually so much congestion in the yard that if the police made a raid " homosexuality was still very much illegal and they were cracking down on dope as well
" it took the police so long to get into the yard that everybody had moved on. In many ways the Yard and its inhabitants summed up the Swinging London of the time!" ""
This is so much more than a traditional black and white photography exhibition.The upstairs showroom will present a selection of traditional handmade black and white silver gelatin photographs, which have been the staple diet of photography collectors and gallery visitors for many years. The ground and lower ground floors of the gallery will be devoted to a collection of physically imposing and boldly conceived artworks created by Gered Mankowitz from his original black and white images. These give a contemporary
twist to classic images. Standouts include a 6ft x 4ft 'lenticular' print where the image appears to move as you walk from left to right in front of it. These impressive lenticular artworks are made by placing an "interlaced" image, (digitally cut and reassembled in vertical strips), behind a sheet of plastic with a series of parallel lenses or lenticules embossed into one surface. When the lens is aligned with the image, the viewer sees only one frame at a time. As the viewing angle changes, each of
the images are seen in the planned sequence, creating the illusion of movement, depth and animation." ""I have always been intrigued by Lenticular printing and saw my first example in New York"s Times Square in 1965 when I was touring with the Stones " it was a "saucy" postcard of a women revealing her breast as you tilted the card and changed the viewing angle. The Stones went on to use the same technique for the cover to their Satanic Majesties album."" "-Gered

Some of the other images will be presented as "Softsharps" " images mounted behind thick perspex where the image transforms from a soft focus to a pin sharp focus as you walk past.
The first public day of the exhibition, Saturday 18 September, is the 40th anniversary of the passing of Jimi Hendrix, and Gered will be at the gallery all day on 18 September, signing copies of his new beautiful new book of Hendrix photographs, "The Experience: Jimi Hendrix at Mason's Yard", which is being published to coincide with the launch of the exhibition.

Der „Geist“ des Rockpalast
Bei uns war tiefe Nacht, in Los Angeles schien noch die Sonne, aber in einem Hinterzimmer des weltberühmten „Whisky A Go-Go“ war es auch dunkel. Dort klingelte das Telefon. Indiesem Klub am Sunset Strip hatten sie alle gespielt: die DOORS, JANIS JOPLIN,
LED ZEPPELIN, alle, die Rang
und Namen hatten. Wir waren wie so oft nachts am Telefon und brauchten Ersatz für die bevorstehende Rockpalast-Nacht in der Grugahalle Essen. Die KINKS hatten wegen einer– wie sich herausstellte – gruppeninternen Krise ihre Zusage, bei uns aufzutreten, zurückgezogen. Rockpalast-Regisseur Christian Wagner erinnerte sich an seine Vorliebe für die Musik von SPIRIT – an die Alben „The Family that Plays Together“ mit dem Hit „I got a line on you“ und ihre – vielleicht beste - LP „The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus“
mit der Hymne „Nature’s Way“. Und an die Solo-Arbeiten von RANDY CALIFORNIA: „The Adventures Of Kaptain Kopter And Commander Cassidy in Potato Land“. Das nächtliche Telefongespräch hatte Erfolg. Wir engagierten SPIRIT für die Rockpalast-Eurovisionssendung im März 1978. Alles andere als „ein Ersatz“! Das Konzert der Band wurde einer der Höhepunkte der ersten Rockpalast-Serie (1977 bis 1986). RANDY CALIFORNIA hatte schon als 15-Jähriger in New York mit JIMI HENDRIX in dessen damaliger Band „Jimi James and The Blue
Flames“ gespielt. Der wollte ihn sogar mit nach Europa nehmen, aber Randy’s Mutter hielt ihn dafür noch für zu jung, und zog mit ihm zurück nach Kalifornien. Dass sein Gitarrenspiel stark von JIMI geprägt war, konnte man im Rockpalast-Konzert hören, wenn er die DYLAN-Songs „Like A Rolling Stone“ und „All Along The Watchtower“ in der HENDRIX-Version spielte. Dazu legte er mit seinem Moog-Synthesizer (Taurus), den er wie das Fußpedal einer Orgel bediente, ein mächtiges Bass-Fundament. RANDY und sein Stiefvater,
der Schlagzeuger
ED CASSIDY, waren der feste Kern in den vielen wechselnden Besetzungen von SPIRIT seit 1968. Der Schlagzeug-Aufbau von CASSIDY war pompös, er schloss – wie in einem klassischen Orchester – zwei Kesselpauken ein. Sein Drum-Solo gehörte zu den Höhepunkten des Konzerts. Larry „Fuzzy“ Knight vervollständigte die Dreier-Formation, die in ihren ausgefeilten Arrangements aus Rock, Jazz, Blues, Psychedelic doch nichts von der Power vermissen ließ, die klassischen „einfachen“ Rock-Dreiern eignet. Ein besonderer Höhepunkt
kam am Schluss, als DICKEY BETTS, der mit seiner Gruppe „GREAT SOUTHERN“ vor SPIRIT gespielt hatte, seine Verstärker-Wand wieder aufbaute, um mit SPIRIT zu jammen. Eine Rezension sprach gar davon, dass dieser Jam das Beste gewesen sei, was bis dahin im deutschen Fernsehen an Musik zu sehen gewesen war. Seine melodiöse Southern-Rock-Gitarre kontrastierte spannend gegen die härtere Gitarre von RANDY CALIFORNIA. Das war damals im ARD-Fernsehen möglich: Die Rockpalast-Nacht war „open end“, sie war erst zu Ende, wenn
der letzte Ton gespielt worden war.

Landesrekord in Coesfeld voller Erfolg - Gitarrenweltrekord wird verlegt
Der 1. Gitarrenlandesrekord in Nordrhein-Westfalen am 21.05.2010 in Coesfeld war ein voller Erfolg.
86 Teilnehmer und weit über 3000 Zuschauer feierten eine grandiose Party und öffnen den Weg zu weiteren Events in diesem Stil. Nebst Livemusik der Stuttgarter Coverband PARTY BLUES IN Bb und den Lokalmatadoren Michael Rath, Freddy Hofmann, wurden 6 Gitarren-Hauptpreise und eine Menge Zubehör verlost.
Bürokratische Hürden haben die Vorbereitungen erheblich blockiert, so daß der Gitarrenweltrekord nicht am 31.07.2010 stattfinden kann. Das Gitarrenweltrekord-Team kann derzeit kein adäquates Event zum GWR 2007 garantieren und möchte die Veranstaltung daher verlegen. Ein neuer Termin wird baldmöglichst bekannt gegeben.

In der englischen Hauptstadt begann sein Siegeszug um die Welt. Als JIMI HENDRIX vom Animals-Bassist Chas Chandler nach London geholt wurde, schaffte es der US-amerikanische Wundergitarrist in kürzester Zeit, die gesamte Rockszene der Stadt umzukrempeln. Alle pilgerten sie zu seinen Shows, um das Spektakel mit eigenen Augen zu sehen: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page; auch ein Peter Hammill ließ es sich nicht nehmen, zu einem Konzert des Mannes zu gehen, über den die ganze Stadt sprach. Aus Anlass von Hendrix vierzigstem Todestag gibt es in der Zeit vom 15. bis 26. September die Möglichkeit, das Londoner Domizil des Musikers zu besuchen. Als Teil der Ausstellung "Hendrix In Britain" öffnet der Mayfair Flat, in dem im 18. Jahrhundert bereits Georg Friedrich Händel residiert hatte, seine Pforten für die Öffentlichkeit. This year saw 4,597 guitarists who played seven songs together under the direction of Leszek Cichonski including Guinness World Record attempt song, "Hey Joe". On September 18th, 1970 the world greatest lead guitarist dies in a Notting Hill Gate, London, apartment aged just 27.
We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of this day with a weekend of Hendrix-related events including special tours of London and a concert by a renowned Hendrix Experience tribute band at The Troubadour, a basement club Hendrix knew and which remains virtually unchanged since the day.
Due to the exclusive nature of some of the events and attractions we are including, we only have a limited number of tickets available. Early booking is very much recommended. Warum war ER eigentlich so einzigartig, der eher schüchtern-scheue Typ und doch charischmatisch musikalische Mensch ?
Forscher der UNI TOLEDO im Bundestaat OHIO fanden es in einer wissenschaftlichen Studie heraus! Der Psychologe Stephen Christman bezeichnete Jimi Hendrix als vielseitigen " MISCHHÄNDER ", er schrieb und aß mit der rechten Hand, mit der linken Hand spielte er Gitarre und kämmte sich!
Zahlreiche Untersuchungen und Studien beweisen, dass diese GOTTESGABE-Eigenschaften auf außergewöhnliche Kreativität hindeuten!
Der anatomische Beweis ist, dass bei JIMI die beiden Gehirnhälften ungewöhnlich eng und harmonisch zusammenarbeiteten ! Damit konnte er das Handling der Linken und Rechten Hand super synchronisieren!

Kreis und Stadt einigten sich auf Kompriss
Eutin/Fehmarn. Das Fehmarn Open Air Festival kann in diesem Jahr noch ein letztes Mal am bisherigen Standort am Flügger Strand stattfinden. Voraussetzung hierfür ist jedoch, dass danach die Fläche als Veranstaltungsort nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen wird. Auf diesen Kompromiss einigten sich auf Vorschlag von Landrat Reinhard Sager der Kreis Ostholstein und die Stadt Fehmarn nach einem kürzlich stattgefundenen Behördengespräch im Eutiner Kreishaus. Die Stadt Fehmarn wird auf dieser Basis und unter Berücksichtigung der naturschutzrechtlichen Aspekte ab dem nächsten Jahr keine Genehmigungen mehr für Veranstaltungen auf der betroffenen sogenannten "Dreiecksfläche" erteilen. In der neu vorzunehmenden Bauleitplanung durch die Stadt Fehmarn wird die vorliegende Problematik gleichfalls aufzuarbeiten sein.

The Hendrix Alive Project divided the set with a five minute break, which kind of lost some of the impetus they had gained. But when they returned with 'All Along The Watchtower,' 'Foxy Lady' (dedicated to any women in black underwear), 'Can You See Me' and 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)' they had us back in the palm of their hand. Promising no encores but being called back to give 'Are You Experienced?' an airing, it would be great to see both of these bands back on the Mr. Kyps' stage before too many moons turn blue. With Jimi being gone 40 years this September, it is always heartening that not only can an excellent tribute to his music still summon the adrenaline rush, but they can almost fill the venue with fans still wanting to hear his amazing music.

Das Rocksommermärchen 2007 mit 1802 Gitarristen (Guinness Guitar World Record - Largest Ensemble) ist sicher vielen noch in Erinnerung. Das Großereignis von vor drei Jahren soll nun getoppt werden. Bereits damals berichteten mehrere Hundert Zeitungen und Fernsehsender über das weltweit bewegende Event in Stuttgart. Dieses Jahr wird das Event von keinem geringeren Radiopartner wie DIE NEUE 107,7 exklusiv präsentiert.
Nach langen Verhandlungen ist jetzt bestätigt: Der nächste Gitarrenweltrekord findet am 31.07.2010 erneut in Leinfelden-Echterdingen statt. Um die aktuellen Guinness-Rekordhalter aus Polen zu schlagen, sollen diesmal mindestens 6347 Gitarristen gleichzeitig einen Song spielen.
Rahmenprogramm wird ein Festival von 10 - 24 Uhr mit Bands, Workshops, Musikmeile, Solo - & Cover-Wettbewerb, Instrumentenausstellungen, Verlosungen... für alle Gitarristen jeglicher Spielstärke, Musiker, Musikfans und die ganze Familie.
Die Möglichkeit mitzumachen sind vielfältig. So kann man neben dem reinem Mitspielen beim Rekord, auch beim Solo- und/oder Coverwettbewerb teilnehmen. Für das Festival werden noch Bands gesucht und sämtliche Firmen um das Musikbusiness können sich mit einem Stand auf der Musikmeile präsentieren.
Als Vorbereitung präsentiert sich das Gitarrenweltrekord-Team vom 24.-27.03. auf der Musikmesse Frankfurt Halle 4.1 G50 und veranstaltet einen Landesrekord am 21.05.2010 in Coesfeld.

Da haben sich 3 Musiker gefunden, die das auf der Bühne ausleben, die so fühlen und das auch wirklich rüber bringen. Es ist ein Erlebnis, die 3 auf der Bühne live zu erleben und zu spüren, mit welcher Spielfreude sie an diese Musik herangehen, diese spielen und leben!
Das Repertoire besteht überwiegend aus bekannten Songs von Jimi Hendrix wie "Hey Joe", "Little wing", "Foxy Lady" oder "Voodoo Child". Natürlich sind auch Songs dabei, die er nachgespielt hat wie "Like a rolling stone" von Bob Dylan oder "Sunshine of your love" von Cream.
Gitarrist und Sänger in der Formation ist Harald Riesterer (Harry). Harry´s Gitarrenspiel ist energetisch, explosiv und wild, er lebt seinen Sound aus, sehr dirty, psychodelisch, funky und kompromisslos...seine Stimme ist eher Rockmässig, rau und hart aber auch sehr warm...
Dieudonné Ramilison (Donné) betätigt den Vierseiter und singt im Hintergrund. Donné spielt einen urigen, schmatzenden Groove Rockbass, der wirklich unter die Haut geht...

So, jetzt liegt die "Neue" in meinem CD-Player. Wenn man bedenkt was in den letzten Jahrzehnten so alsHendrix Veröffentlichungen aufden Markt kam, ist man doch eher skeptisch. Gibt es wirklich Neues odermehrt man nur den Profit der Hendrix Erben? Der riesige Presse - und Werberummel hat sensationell Neuesversprochen. Was da jetzt aus den Boxen kommt ist nicht wirklich Neues, irgendwie hat man das doch schoneinmal auf Bootlegs gehört, oder? Aber der Sound ist klasse, es klingt total frisch als wäre es
gesternerst aufgenommen worden, dabei sind die Aufnahmen bis zu 43 Jahre alt. Eddie Kramer hat einen tollen Job gemacht. Schlagzeug, Bass, Jimis charismatische Stimme und die Gitarre stehen in einem gut abgemischten Verhältnis. Di CD wird dem Meister, dem Workaholic der immer auf der Suche nach dem perfekten Sound im Studio war gerecht. Sie zeigt Hendrix auch nicht als Guitar Maniac, sondern als tollen Song Schreiber und Interpreten. Seine Verwurzelung im und Verehrung des Blues werden in den Versionen von "Hear
My Train Comin?" und "Red House" deutlich. Der Tribute für Cream"Sunshine Of Your Love" fällt wesentlich zahmer aus als in Live Versionen. Neben der original Experience sind einige Songs mit Billy Cox am Bass. Unterstützt wurden einige Sessions durch die Perkusionisten Juma Sultan oder Rocki Dzidzornu. Hendrix Fans werden die CD sowieso kaufen um ihre Sammlung komplett zu halten, Hendrix Neulingen, die nicht unbedingt eine Greatest Hits kaufen möchten, kann man die Scheibe durchaus empfehlen.

airing an hour long special on this phenomenal guitarist. Planet Rock

In den vergangenen Jahren wurde so mancher Schatz aus den umfangreichen Archiven von Jimi Hendrix gehoben. Neuester und gewiss spektakulärster Fund sind die bislang unveröffentlichten Studioaufnahmen, die größtenteils zwischen Februar und Mai 1969 entstanden. Die Songs von "Valleys Of Neptune" schließen die Lücke zwischen dem 1968 veröffentlichten Album "Electric Ladyland" und der unvollendeten LP "First Rays Of The New Rising Sun" von 1970.
"Valleys Of Neptune" entstand im Record Plant-Studio in New York und den Londoner Olympic Studios. Das virtuos eingespielte Album glänzt mit einer erlesenen Songsammlung, darunter die Cream-Coverversion "Sunshine Of Your Love", der Elmore James-Klassiker "Bleeding Heart" sowie die exzellente Hendrix-Kompositionen "Ships Passing Through The Night", "Lullaby For The Summer" und "Hear My Train A Comin"". " Der Titelsong ist eine der gesuchtesten
Hendrix-Aufnahmen überhaupt.Weiterhin sind aufregende Neuarrangements der Signature-Songs "Red House", "Fire" und "Stone Free" enthalten. "Valleys Of Neptune" wurde für diese Veröffentlichung von Jimis langjährigem Toningenieur Eddie Kramer neu abgemischt, die Linernotes stammen von John McDermott, der vor gut 40 Jahren gemeinsam mit Hendrix und Kramer diese Tracks produziert hatte.

Längst haben Errorhead Kultstatus. Marcus Deml (Gitarre),
Frank Itt (Bass) und Zacky Tsoukas (Drums) bilden ein Trio, das an Wucht und
musikalischem Einfallsreichtum nichts zu wünschen übrig lässt. Auf ihrem
aktuellen Album "Modern Hippie" führen Errorhead den Geist der späten 60iger und
frühen 70iger Jahre in die heutige Zeit über. Rock, Ambient, Weltmusik mit
eindringlichen Grooves - gespielt von drei herausragenden Instrumentalisten.
Seit Sommer 2009 ergänzt Sänger Andrew Gräser die Band, die nach ihrem Konzert
2008 nun als Quartett auf die Bühne der Schorndorfer Gitarrentage zurückkehrt.

New Bag hält die hochkomprimierte Energie und steigert sich
fortlaufend immer wieder in einen irren Spielrausch, eine unglaubliche Hitze, um
dann wiederum in stille Phasen ätherischen Sounds abzutauchen.
Das
Gitarrenspiel von Christy Doran ist von Hendrix abgeleitet. Auffällig an New Bag
sind die komplexen, durchstrukturierten Kompositionen des irisch-schweizerischen
Jazzgitarristen. Alles wirkt ungeheuer frisch und homogen und groovt dazu
wunderbar.
Der Sound von New Bag ist mal furios, mal leise und abgedreht. Es
herrscht eine fast unheimliche kollektive Dynamik, die die Band innerhalb von
Minuten aufbaut und konstant aufrechterhält. Trotz der Vielschichtigkeit und
Komplexität ist der Sound leicht und verspielt. In ihrer Musik verschmelzen
Jazz, Rock, Ethno, freier Musik und Noise zu neuen Klangerfahrungen.

Experience Hendrix, fourth edition, biennial concert tour featuring an all-star line up of music greats paying homage to the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix launches March 2010 with special performances across the country.
Featured artists who will be performing music written and inspired by Jimi Hendrix. Include some of the best known and most respected artists in contemporary rock and blues including Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Kenny
Wayne Shepherd, Brad Whitford (of Aerosmith), Doyle Bramhall II, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Double Trouble’s Chris Layton, along with bassist Billy Cox. Cox, who first befriended Hendrix when the two were in the 101st Airborne division of the US Army. Cox played in both the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys and performed with Hendrix at such landmark festivals as Woodstock and the Isle of Wight. Cox commented, "It's a thrill for me to play Jimi's music for audiences now as it was in the 1960s.
The Experience Hendrix tours have shown how timeless this music really is." Joe Satriani remarked, "I finally get to pay tribute to my hero the right way, on stage with an amazing, once in a lifetime, line up of musicians!" Sacred Steel featuring Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi and David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos are also performing on selected Experience Tour dates.
