The Jimi Hendrix Information Management Institute (JIMI) is an organization designed to accumulate and disseminate information regarding the legend and the legacy of the late rock guitarist icon Jimi Hendrix. The organization was founded in 1985 by Ken Voss, former publisher of the Illinois Entertainer magazine and rock music historian, to satisfy the needs of Hendrix fans while working to maintain the factual story of Jimi's life. JIMI maintains an archive of music and memorabilia, a library of books and published information, and publishes a quarterly fanzine Voodoo Child.
With this, the 40th anniversary of Woodstock and some 39 years since Hendrix's passing, JIMI will be hosting two events this fall.
On Sunday, September 13 the JIMI Mobile Museum will roll out to be on display at the Rubino's Annual Summerfest. That event will be held at the Rubino's Exhibition Center at 8102 Georgia St. in Merrillville, Indiana (SW corner of I-65 and Route 30). Included will be a display of rare and unusual artifacts, photos and posters, videos and other memorabilia from the JIMI archives. On Friday, September 18, the JIMI Mobile Museum will be part of a Jimi Hendrix tribute concert featuring former Band Of Gypsys bass player Billy Cox, Kid Rock guitarist Kenny Olson and Indianapolis band Blue Earth Skeletons. That event will be held at the Irving Theater, 5505 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be a historic event as not only is September 18 the day of Jimi's death in 1970, but Billy Cox is the only surviving member left of Hendrix bands the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band Of Gypsys. In November of 1962, a young guitarist named Jimi Hendrix and a bassist named Billy Cox drove from Clarksville, Tennessee, to Indianapolis in a 1956 Plymouth. The two musicians were lured to Indianapolis with a promise of a well-paying gig at the Brass Rail on Indiana Avenue, but when they got into town, the promised gig had evaporated. The Indianapolis music scene, particularly centered on Indiana Avenue, or simply 'The Avenue,' had once been a major destination for jazz greats like Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. By the sixties, however, 'The Avenue' began shifting its gears, becoming known as an avant-garde district, fusing the more customary blues and jazz genres with the newer style of rock 'n' roll. By the time Hendrix and Cox made it into Indy, their Plymouth had all but broken down completely, consigned to moving only in forward gear. With insufficient funds to repair the car, Hendrix and Cox soon found themselves stranded in Indianapolis, matters made worse by the lack of income they had been expecting. Using the little money they had, Hendrix and Cox rented a room at Saint Mary's Hotel, but, before long, their funds diminished entirely, and the duo was forced to sleep in the broken-down Plymouth. They subsisted solely on chili and crackers, and, to this day, Cox refuses to eat chili. When the pair heard about an upcoming battle of the bands hosted by George's Bar, they were unable to resist an experiment in musical innovation and, undoubtedly, the cash prize to be won. Strapped for cash, Hendrix and Cox were determined to win the battle of the bands, but, much to their consternation, they lost to an Indianapolis band called The Presidents, featuring guitarist Alphonso Young. 'They should have won,' Young admits. 'They were clearly the better band.' Young was instantly transformed into an avid Hendrix fan. Although Hendrix and Cox did not win the competition, the trek to Indy was not a complete loss; the two musicians had forged a visceral connection with 'The Avenue,' a community completely devoted to music. Hendrix and Cox returned to Clarksville, making countless appearances at local clubs and gaining recognition as The King Kasuals. Back in Indianapolis, Young couldn't stop thinking about the guitarist who had blown him away. He remembered Hendrix and Cox mentioning that they played at a club called the Pink Poodle in Clarksville. So, Young drove to Clarksville with two fellow Hoosier musicians, hoping that Hendrix would remember him from 'The Avenue' and allow him to perform with The King Kasuals. Although they were surprised to find Young on their doorstep, Hendrix and Cox consented to Young playing with their band.
Eventually, the band outgrew the Clarksville scene, moving to Nashville, a musical mecca that would serve as their home base. The King Kasuals became a regular act at the Del Morocco on Jefferson Street, and although there was no denying Hendrix's musical genius, Nashville was teeming with talent, and the band was unable to negotiate a higher rate of pay at The Del Morocco and soon left. Young became disenchanted when his envisioned fortune and fame proved elusive and returned home to Indianapolis. Not willing to give up, Hendrix and Cox continued to dig in, and began playing the Chitlin' Circuit. The frenzied, exhilarating life of constant travel and performance held much appeal for Hendrix. Once The King Kasuals gathered a respectable following in Nashville and the surrounding area, Hendrix spent the next several years travelling around the country playing with artists like Tina Turner, The Isley Brothers, and Little Richard. But, Nashville was always home base. As in Indianapolis, Hendrix frequently found himself stranded in some strange city with no funds to return home. More often than not, Cox would come to the rescue. Jimi was ethereal, whereas Cox was more earthy and logical. Hendrix may not have always had a plan, but he luckily always had Cox.
While playing a show in New York in 1965, Hendrix met up with Chas Chandler, of The Animals fame, who gave him the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance to travel to England and pursue stardom. Hendrix immediately called Cox and asked him, with Chandler's endorsement, to be a part of the journey. He said to Cox, 'There is a guy who says he wants to take me to England and make me famous, and I told him about you. All you have to do is get to New York.' Cox said, 'I can't go. I'm renting an amp, I have three strings on my bass, and the fourth is tied in a square knot.' So, with no funds for the trip to New York, Cox was forced to decline. Hendrix told Cox, 'I'll go, and when I get famous, I will send for you.' And that's exactly what he did.
In 1969, Hendrix reunited with Cox to play at Woodstock as the Gypsy Sun and Rainbows, the band name lasting for a mere four performances before substituting drummer Mitch Mitchell for Buddy Miles to play as The Band of Gypsys for another extremely short-lived duration. By 1970, Mitchell rejoined The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The tour planned for 1970 was the realization of a dream that originated in Hendrix's and Cox's early years playing the Chitlin' Circuit. Now, nearly forty-seven years since Hendrix's and Cox's inaugural visit to Indianapolis, Cox is returning to perform a Jimi Hendrix tribute show at The Irving Theater. The concert is scheduled for September 18th, the thirty-ninth anniversary of Hendrix's death. Hosted by local band The Blue Earth Skeletons, the show will feature Billy Cox as a special guest with his guitarist Kenny Olson (formerly of Kid Rock) and drummer Gary Skipper. To help celebrate the life and music of Hendrix, Young will also be in attendance, the first reunion between Cox and Young in years. To further commemorate Hendrix's lifetime achievements, the Jimi Hendrix Mobile Museum will set up an exhibit including a photo gallery and rare artifacts and memorabilia from the archives of the Jimi Hendrix Information Management Institute (JIMI). Cox will be signing autographs for his latest CD, The Last Gypsy Standing, at Guitarworks in Greenwood the day of the show, as well as at the show.
Cox's most recent musical contribution has been via the Experience Hendrix tour, featuring musicians such as Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Chris Layton, and Hubert Sumlin. Cox is the contributing bassist for South Saturn Delta, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, Cry of Love, Rainbow Bridge, Hendrix In The West, War Heroes, Live at Woodstock, Band of Gypsys I and II, and many others. Cox's film appearances include Live at the Isle of Wight, Live at Woodstock, The Dick Cavett Show, Rainbow Bridge, Jimi Plays Berkeley, and Jimi Hendrix. With the passing of Buddy Miles in February of 2008, and Mitch Mitchell in November of 2008, Cox is the last surviving member of Hendrix's band.

Al Parco Meda di Roma (Metro B, fermata Monti Tiburtini), a distanza di quarant'anni dal mitico Festival di Woodstock, raduno che caratterizzò una generazione, si terrà una tre giorni interamente dedicata alla musica dei favolosi 'sixties'nell'ambito della rassegna 'Suoni & Visioni al Parco Meda'.
Filo conduttore dell'evento sarà la musica di Jimi Hendrix, un'icona di quegli anni di tensioni sociali, di fermenti culturali, di sogni e utopie, di amore e musica. Indimenticabile è stata la sua partecipazione al Festival di Woodstock . L'esibizione di Jimi Hendrix in chiusura di quel festival del 1969 è divenuta un vero e proprio simbolo: l'immagine del chitarrista che, con dissacrante visionarietà artistica, riscrive l'inno nazionale americano in modo provocatoriamente distorto, è entrata di prepotenza nell'immaginario collettivo musicale come uno dei punti di svolta nella storia del rock.
Jimi Hendrix fu infatti non solo l'immagine simbolo di un'epoca ma anche un protagonista unico, un innovatore della scena musicale, a lui si sono ispirati e ancor oggi si ispirano numerosissimi artisti. 'tutti i grandi del rock e del blues come Steve Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Uli John Roth, Rod Stewart, Robin Trower gli hanno reso omaggio.
La sua musica è stata reinterpretata in mille modi, dalle rivisitazioni jazz di Gil Evans alle versioni blues di John Lee Hooker, dai Cure a Sting e nonostante siano passati parecchi anni dalla sua prematura scomparsa, lo stile di suonare la chitarra alla 'Hendrix' ancora influenza molti giovani chitarristi.
Al Parco Meda, durante la kermesse, si cimenteranno vari artisti provenienti praticamente da tutta Italia che interpreteranno Hendrix, ciascuno secondo il proprio stile e arte.
Dallo stile Soul e Rhythm 'n' Blues del grande Gepy & Gepy al rock visionario e suggestivo dei Quasar di Gianni Leacche, passando per l''Hendrix psichedelico prima maniera' interpretato dagli Electric Sun da Perugia all'Hendrix duro e acido dell'ultimo periodo 1970' suonato dai Voodoo Groove di Verona.
Vi sarà il grande 'maestro hendrixiano' Maurizio Bonini, unico musicista italiano che vanta nel suo curriculum una collaborazione discografica con il compianto Noel Redding già bassista della Jimi Hendrix Experience. Da non dimenticare la partecipazione della Blues Experience di Fulvio Feliciano e Pino Liberti che renderanno omaggio anche ad un altro grande chitarrista, Steve Ray Vaughan.
Suoneranno inoltre gli Asuwish, gruppo rock romano e il cantautore Pino Leonardi'.
Sono previsti, a sorpresa, altri ospiti illustri che potrebbero eventualmente unirsi ai vari musicisti per una jam session.
Le serate inizieranno alle ore 19:00 con la proiezione di rari filmati di Jimi Hendrix provenienti dalla collezione personale di Roberto Crema, curatore del blog http://jimihendrixitalia.blogspot.com .
I video comprenderanno varie fasi della vita del grande chitarrista a partire da rarissimi filmati di un giovane Hendrix nel 1965/6 ad alcuni spezzoni dell'ultimo concerto all'Isola di Fehmarn nel 1970. Oltre ai filmati del festival di Monterey, Woodstock e di Wight non mancheranno anche altri video rari di Jimi Hendrix quali le riprese negli studi televisivi francesi e lo spezzone dalla cineteca Rai dell'unico concerto romano del maggio 1968.
Verrà anche proiettato per la prima volta un video inedito del dicembre 1967 in cui gli Experience suonano 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band' in onore dei Beatles presenti a quel concerto.

Dalle 21:00 in poi saranno i vari gruppi musicali ad animare la serata.
Durante la manifestazione in un'area apposita, sarà presente una mostra fotografica con foto inedite di Jimi Hendrix in Italia e la partecipazione di alcuni dei fotografi che fecero quelle foto.
Ma all'evento già ricco di proposte non poteva mancare l'esposizione delle opere del quotato pittore modenese Franco Ori che esporrà alcune sue tele raffiguranti dei grandi del rock e del jazz e si esibirà inoltre in una performance artistica dipingendo, durante i concerti, una tela gigante ispirata a Jimi Hendrix.

Wenn Uli Jon Roth zu einem freundschaftlichen Jam aufruft, muss er auf die Antwort nicht lang warten. Der Ex-Scorpions-Gitarrist und Jimi Hendrix Experte präsentiert gemeinsam mit seinen Gästen am 05. September 2009, Beginn 20 Uhr, Hits der Gitarrenlegende und anderen Rockgrößen dieser Ära. Als Special Guests begrüßt Uli: Heavy Metal- und Hardrock-Gitarristen Axel Rudi Pell,Krautrocker Klaus Walz, Nippy Noya und Ule Ritgen. Zusammen bieten sie ein abwechslungsreiches und definitiv rockiges Abendprogramm. In Begleitung einer klassischen Rockband interpretieren sie auf ihre ganz eigene Art vor allem Songs von Jimi Hendrix, dessen letztes Konzert am 05. September vor genau 39 Jahren auf der deutschen Insel Fehmarn stattfand, nur wenige Tage vor seinem frühen Tod. Ihm zu Ehren ruft das rocknpopmuseum alle Fans der Wah-Wah-Sounds und experimentellen Gitarrenklänge zur Jimi Hendrix Night
Die Jimi Hendrix Night ist eingebettet in Uli Jon Roths Sky Academy. Auf dem dreitägigen Seminar, das vom 04. bis 06. September 2009 im rocknpopmuseum stattfindet, vermittelt er seine außergewöhnlichen Ansätze, die den Teilnehmern einen neuen Zugang zu ihrem Instrument ermöglichen sollen. Nach Los Angeles, Arizona und Neuseeland gastiert der Gitarren-Exportschlager mit der von ihm initiierten Sky Academy erstmals in Deutschland. Präsentiert und veranstaltet wird sie vom Gitarrenmagazin Guitar, auf dessen Homepage die genauen Termine und der Ablauf der Sky Academy sowie das Anmeldeformular zu finden sind.
Für unsere Museumsbesucher ergibt sich dadurch die Möglichkeit Uli Jon Roth und den Seminarteilnehmern während der Proben auf das Griffbrett zu schauen.
Wer von den Gitarrenklängen nicht genug bekommen kann, sollte das Konzert vom Panik-Rocker Hannes Bauer und dem Orchester Gnadenlos eine Woche später (11.09.2009) nicht verpassen, Supportact ist die in Gronau bereits bekannte Band Punk Floyd. Primarily the focus is the Woodstock experience through the memories and personal photos of the people who were there and . With a foreword by Artie Kornfeld and epilogue by Wavy Gravy, this 256 page book is designed with the look and feel of a scrap book / photo album and takes readers through the creation of the festival, the festival itself, and the 40 year legacy. It also includes a section on collectibles from the festival as well. Steve Vai - Es bedarf wohl keiner großen Worte um zu beschreiben was es heißt, Steve Vai bei uns auf dem MEINL GUITAR FESTIVAL begrüßen zu dürfen.
Andy Timmons - Andy wurde in die Top 20 Favourite Guitarist der japanischen Musikmagazine gewählt und bekam vier Mal in Folge die Auszeichnung Musician of the Year der Dallas Observer Music Awards.
John Wesley Porcupine Tree - Gitarrist der englischen Band Porcupine Tree, die bekannt für ihre ausgedehnte Melodiearbeit und ihre extreme Detailverliebtheit ist. Nicht nur im Hinblick auf Instrumentalität, sondern auch was die Songstruktur angeht, sind Porcupine Tree keineswegs leicht zu durchschauen und aus der heutigen Musikszene nicht mehr wegzudenken.
Paul Reed Smith PRS - Paul Reed Smith, der wohl legendärste Gitarrenbauer aller Zeiten, gibt sich nicht nur als Gast auf dem MEINL GUITAR FESTIVAL 2009 die Ehre, sondern auch mit einer Performance auf der Mainstage.
Bernie Marsden Ex-Whitesnake - Der Name Bernard John Marsden dürfte wohl nicht nur den Musikfreunden der frühen 80er Jahre im Hinterkopf geblieben sein... Der 1951 im englischen Buckingham geborene Gitarrist war maßgeblich an der Arbeit zu den ersten acht Alben der Hard-Rock-Band Whitesnake beteiligt.
Gary Willis Tribal Tech - Er wurde 1957 in Texas geboren und ist Gründungsmitglied der Alternative-Fusion Band Tribal Tech. Er begann bereits im Alter von 13 Jahren mit dem Bassspiel. Heute ist er Komponist und Basslehrer unter anderem am Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.
Tony McManus - Der schottische Gitarrist Tony McManus, der mit dem BBC Folk Award und den Scottish Traditional Music Award zum Musician of the Year nominiert wurde, wird uns über die Schulter schauen lassen und auf dem MEINL GUITAR FESTVAL eine beeindruckende Performance darbieten.
Rudi Buttas + Joe Crawford Pur - Die beiden Bandmitglieder einer der erfolgreichsten deutschsprachigen Bands, nämlich PUR, werden zusammen auf dem MEINL GUITAR FESTIVAL auftreten.
Mickey Meinert Schiller - Ungezählte Credits säumen den musikalischen Weg von Mickey Meinert. Aktuell ist er mit dem deutschen Pop-Projekt "SCHILLER", die sich zunehmend auch international etablieren, in ganz Europa unterwegs. ; u.a. bereits als Opening-Act für DEPECHE MODE.

Für Hiram Bullock war die Musik, als auch der Mensch Jimi Hendrix „ein musikalisches Schlüsselerlebnis, wie er in dem – in Musikerkreisen berühmt-berüchtigten – Fragebogen des Musik-Journalisten Michael Rüsenberg antwortete: „Ein musikalisches Schlüsselerlebnis war für mich, dass Jimi Hendrix entdeckt worden ist. Jimi Hendrix hatte in einer kleinen Bar in Greenwich Village gespielt - und drei Monate später war er ein Weltstar! Das hat die Geschichte des Gitarre-Spielens verändert. Schade, dass ich selbst ihn nie live erleben konnte; kurz bevor er in meine Stadt kommen sollte, ist er gestorben. Man kann sich kaum vorstellen, wie ich oder wie Rockgitarre heute klingen würde - ohne Jimi Hendrix.“
Aber Musik von Jimi Hendrix und die WDR Bigband – wie passt das zusammen? Hiram Bullock hat diesen Widerspruch gekonnt gelöst. Die WDR Big Band agiert sehr differenziert und zurückhaltend, um den Hendrix Klassikern „Foxy Lady“, „Voodoo Child“, „Manic Deperession“ und vielen weiteren einen zeitgemäßen und passenden Sound zu verleihen. Verstärkt wird das Ensemble durch den Stardrummer Billy Cobham, der Gründungsmitglied des Mahavishnu Orchestras war und mit Miles Davis, Michael Brecker und vielen anderen Jazzstars zusammen gearbeitet hat. Falls jemand einmal gesagt hat, eine Big Band könnte nicht rocken, darf sich hier getrost eines besseren belehren. Der Leader, Sänger und Gitarrist Hiram Bullock hat mit diesem waghalsigen Musikabenteuer einmal mehr unter Beweis gestellt, dass Rockklassiker in großorchestraler Besetzung deutlich funkiger & jazziger klingen können, als gemein hin angenommen wird. Und dass Hendrix’ Musik zu 100% zu Hiram Bullock passt, versteht sich von selbst.
Eine authentische  Aufnahme und ein würdiges Vermächtnis, des am 25 Juli 2008 verstorbenen Gitarristen und Sängers, aufgenommen während einer umjubelten Tournee bei einem Livekonzert in der Universität Köln.
Eine Ehre, die nicht vielen Musikern erteilt wird, erwies die WDR Big Band Hiram Bullock im September 2008, mit zwei Konzerten zu seiner Erinnerung, bei denen sich die Big Band der Musik Hirams widmete. Die Konzerte waren eigentlich mit ihm geplant – so wurden sie für ihn.
Der Gitarrist Hiram Bullock starb in New York im Alter von nur 52 Jahren. In Osaka, Japan geboren, studierte der Multiinstrumentalist nach seiner Rückkehr in die USA, Piano, Saxophon, E-Bass und fand später seine besten Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten auf der Gitarre:
„Bei einem Konzert mit unserer High-School-Band, bei der ich den Bass spielte,  stolperte unser Gitarrist und Sänger und fiel, immer noch singend, in die Arena. Woraufhin sich zehn Mädchen auf ihn stürzten –  Oh mein Gott dachte ich, ich glaube ich sollte die Gitarre spielen“ so Hiram Bullock einmal über seinen Wechsel.
Nachdem er nach New York zog, spielte er bald mit Barbara Streisand, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, den Brecker Brothers, Gil Evans, Carla Bley, Miles Davis und vielen anderen. Einen enormen Popularitätsschub – vor allem in den USA – verdankte er seiner Tätigkeit als "the barefoot guitarist" bei der David Letterman Show, wo er stets barfuß im TV zu sehen war. Er etablierte sich als erfahrener Sideman und zunehmend als Leader eigener Band-Projekte, mit denen er in den letzen Jahren häufig in Europa tourte. Während seiner Soli wanderte er stets ins Publikum und war auch sonst ein wahrer Showmaster. Ein Ausnahmekünstler, wie er im Buche steht – ohne selbst überschätzende Attribute.

Es sollte schon sein letztes Studioalbum sein, dessen Brisanz und Strahlkraft er noch selbst erleben durfte, vor dem frühen Tod im September 1970 und dem posthumen „Cry Of Love“. Während Plattenverkäufer in England sowie Frauen- und Mütter-Verbände in den USA eine transatlantische Empörungs-Allianz gegen die 19 komplett nackten Frauen auf dem Cover schmiedeten und das Hendrix selbst immer abgelehnt hatte, begeisterten sich – jenseits der unverhüllten Hülle - Kritiker und Fans gleichermaßen an Songs wie „Crosstown Traffic“, „Burning Of The Midnight Lamp“, „Voodoo Chile“ und der genial interpretierten Coverversion des Bob Dylan-Songs „All Along The Watchtower“. 40 Jahre später dokumentiert die CD/DVD „Electric Ladyland 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition“ nun die Entstehung des dritten Albums der Jimi Hendrix Experience so ausführlich wie nie zuvor – mit neuem, fast 40-minütigem „Making Of“-Hintergrund-Material, das 1997 in der „Classic Album“-Originalauflage noch nicht zu sehen war. Das dritte Album einer Band oder eines Künstlers gilt gemeinhin als schwieriges, und selbst der wohl größte Gitarrist der Rock-Geschichte sah sich mit dieser kleinen Binse konfrontiert. Im Laufe der „Electric Ladyland“-Sessions in London (Olympic Studios) und New York (The Record Plant) war Jimi Hendrix zunehmend unzufrieden mit Bassist Noel Redding und dem erst kürzlich verstorbenen Schlagzeuger Mitch Mitchell, seiner bewährten Rhythmusgruppe. Also holte er Drummer Buddy Miles hinzu, mit dem Hendrix bald darauf auch als „Band Of Gypsies“ ein Live-Album im New Yorker Fillmore East aufnehmen sollte. Dazu gesellten sich noch Jack Casady von The Jefferson Airplane, Steve Winwood und Dave Mason, der damals ebenfalls bei Traffic spielte. All’ diese Gäste kommen auch auf der „Electric Ladyland 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition“ ausführlich zu Wort, neben den üblichen Verdächtigen wie Redding, Mitchell und Chas Chandler. Der ehemalige Bassist der Animals hatte Jimi Hendrix 1966 erst unter seine Management-Fittiche und dann nach London gebracht, wo auch die Experience aus der Taufe gehoben wurde. Besonders aufschlussreich indes ist nach wie vor die nun erweiterte Multitracking-Session mit Eddie Kramer, der damals als Tontechniker für „Electric Ladyland“ im Einsatz war. Um den Entstehungsprozess des Albums zu verdeutlichen, isoliert und spielt Kramer die Original-Spuren der beteiligten Musiker, was faszinierende Einblicke in die technischen Fähigkeiten von Hendrix und der beteiligten Musiker ermöglicht. Doch auch einzelne Songs wie „Burning Of The Midnight Lamp“, „All Along The Watchtower“, „Voodoo Chile“, „Voodoo Child“, „1983“ und „Gypsy Eyes“ werden noch einmal ausführlicher als bisher unter die Lupe genommen. Ganz neu ist zudem ein Abschnitt über das Stück „South Saturn Delta“, das nicht den Sprung aufs Original-Album geschafft hatte. Am Ende hatte Jimi Hendrix ausgerechnet dieser schwierigen Genese und Gemengelage sein wohl schlüssigstes Album abgerungen, das die Summe seiner faszinierenden Teile weit transzendierte. Warum „Electric Ladyland“ vom All Music Guide bis zum Rolling Stone stets mit Höchstwertungen in Punkten und Sternen bedacht wurde, konnte man schon immer hören und fühlen. Doch nur wer die neue 40th Anniversary-Auflage gesehen hat, kann es auch wirklich verstehen.

Im September 1990 wurden wir von Yazid Manou eingeladen an seinem "Jimi's Back" Festival in Paris teilzunehmen, welches eine ganze Woche dauerte. Alle Fotos dazu gibt es in unserer Photo Gallery. Are You Homeless? by The Jimi Homeless Experience
The Jimi Homeless Experience formed as a band in 2007 and has been playing gigs mostly in Los Angeles, CA. They perform parodies of Jimi's biggest hits in the same way that Weird Al Yankovic does Michael Jackson, but their focus is on drawing attention to the problems of homelessness and drug addiction.
Their first comedy CD is available on iTunes and CDbaby (www.cdbaby.com/jimihomeless) and was recently added to the permanent collection of Hendrix historian Ken Voss, who maintains a museum quality archive of all things Jimi.

Der russische Komponist und Geiger Alexej Aigui und der deutsche Komponist und Pianist Dietmar Bonnen haben zwei Ikonen der radikalen Rockmusik angeschaut, angehört und neu interpretiert: Jimi Hendrix und Frank Zappa.
Klavier, Violine und Stimme sind mehr als genug, den ganzen musikalischen Reichtum der Kompositionen auszuschöpfen, ihn auseinanderzunehmen und ganz eigen wieder zusammenzusetzen. Der Gesang von Dietmar Bonnen ist eine feine Mischung von vorstellender Rezitation, interpretierender Stimme und gesungenem Rockgestus - er drängt sich nie in den Vordergrund und versucht nie zu imitieren. Es ist etwas ganz Eigenes entstanden, dem zuzuhören in stets neue Denkregionen und Ohrwindungen führt; mal laut, mal leise - mal fein, mal grob - mal angemessen, mal respektlos - mal Jazz, mal Klassik. Eben etwas, das man gehört und gesehen haben sollte.
Zusätzlich hat das diesjährige Programm von Aigui und Bonnen einen neuen Schwerpunkt - sie spielen ihre Versionen von Kurt Weill-Kompositionen.
